NĀ HANU `O KU`ULEIALOHA was founded in October, 1996, by Kumu Hula Ku`ulei Gumapac in Seattle, WA. Ours is a school dedicated to the continuance of the Hawaiian culture through the art form of hula. Our main purpose is to promote an awareness for the Hawaiian culture, including its language and history, through chant, music, and dance. Our hālau fosters traditional Hawaiian values such as lokahi (unity), ha`aha`a (humility), and kokua (helping others). In doing this, we strive to bring out the best in each individual while keeping harmony within the hālau. Our ohana stretches north to Lynnwood, south to Tacoma, west to Bremerton, and everywhere in between. We welcome everyone, at all levels and experience, with an interest in learning and performing Polynesian dance.
